For some reason this exchange from Monty Python and The Holy Grail made me think Dan Rather and Rathergate:
[after slicing one of the Black Knight's arms off] King Arthur : Now stand aside.
Black Knight : 'Tis but a scratch.
King Arthur : A scratch? Your arm's off.
Black Knight : No it isn't.
King Arthur : Then what's that?
Black Knight : [after a pause] I've had worse.
King Arthur : You liar.
Black Knight : Come on ya pansy.

Very clever!
Interesting and humorous comparison you're making here. I'm trying to figure out if Dan Rather will suffer any permanent damage from this or if it will just drift away after the initial uproar.
