Concern for Daughter's Health Causes Rick Santorum to Quit Campaign

This past Thursday, I composed a humorous post, satirizing Rick Santorum's resolute persistence in his challenge of Mitt Romney for the Republican Presidential nomination. Today, Senator Santorum amply demonstrated his dedication to true family values. His three-year old daughter Bella, who suffers from a rare genetic order, had been rushed to the hospital on Friday. After a weekend spent with his family off the campaign trail, no doubt filled with soul-searching and prayer, Senator Santorum announced today that he is ending his campaign for the Presidency. He has put his love of his daughter and concern for her health and welfare, and the well-being of his family, over personal ambition. In doing so, he exemplifies exactly the type of role model that he promised he would provide as President of the the United States.

I am sure that all Americans join me in heartfelt and earnest prayers for a speedy and full recovery for Bella Santorum, and in expressing all of our best wishes for future good health, happiness and prosperity to Senator and Mrs. Santorum, and their entire family.
