Four Rockets from Gaza Hit Southern Israel

Arab terrorists launched four rockets from Gaza into Southern Israel yesterday. According to Israel National News, one rocket landed near Sderot, two near a Kibbutz in the Sha’ar HaNegev region and a fourth in the southern Ashkelon industrial zone. No injuries or damage was reported in any of the attacks. Please don't look for this story in the Los Angeles Times. Since no one was killed, it's not newsworthy. Indeed, even if an Israeli were killed it would only be newsworthy if Israel retaliated, in which case the story would be about Israel's disproportionate response. With the Olmert government in power, a retaliation is unlikely; it would not show appropriate restraint. In Jewish law, the term for abandoned property, which anyone may claim, is hefker. The Olmert government has in effect told the Arab terrorists in Gaza that the Western Negev is hefker.
