An Example of How The Tide May Be Turning To The GOP
I don't think I am engaging in wishful thinking. Recent developments in the war on Islamofascism, combined with the Democrats' squishy ineptitude on the same issue, are probably pushing security-minded voters toward the GOP. This video of an appearance by Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney on the O'Reilly Factor is an interesting example of the way Republicans are willing to talk and act on the issue that no national Democrat would dare attempt (except for Joe Lieberman, and we know what his party did to him). In the piece, Romney comments on his decision to order all Massachusetts government agencies not to support in any way former Iranian President Khatami's visit to Harvard.
Watch the video and you'll see what I mean. Here's an excerpt from Romney's interview:
On September 10th and September 11th, on the 5th anniversary of an extraordinary tragedy in America, you don't welcome a person to Harvard, with open arms, who has preached the destruction of Israel, who has developed nuclear technology contrary to what he had said, who has jailed dissident students in his country, who has praised Hezbollah. This is a person whose words are worth nothing.Can you see Hillary Clinton saying anything like that? John Kerry? Nancy Pelosi?

The only "interesting" point of this interview is Mr. Romney's incomplete and distorted knowledge about Khatami. If there is any hope "inside" Iran's current government, it is Khatami. Despite Mr. Romney's accusation, Khatami is NOT one of what he called extremist Muslims. He is NOT popular amongst Mullas and it was a mistake that they (Mullas) made when they let him run for president. He was the only truly “elected” president in Iran since almost 50 years ago after "we" overthrew their prime minister, Mosadegh (Operation Ajax)
I don't understand how you can advocate stupidity and lack of knowledge especially amongst those who are working "for" us as governors, senators, president, etc.
It is ONLY through dialogue that we can win a war against an ideology.

The furor the Clinton folks are raising over the ABC mini-series is another gift to the Republicans. If you're worried about base motivation and turnout, could we have a better reminder than Clinton trying to airbrush the past? That coupled with the British arrests and the 5th anniversary reminders of 9/11 is certainly going to help the GOP.
Oh, and the 40 cent per gallon drop in gas prices (at least here in OK) over the past month isn't going to hurt either.
