I think it's probably a toss-up. I bet there's people who won't vote for Obama because of his race, Hillary because of her sex and Romney because of his religion. I have no idea which quantity is greater.

I know there are African-Americans who wouldn't vote for Obama in the primary because they BELIEVE that white folk won't vote for a black man. I don't know if the analogous situation holds for Hillary or Mitt.

It may be, for factors that have not much to do with prejudice, that Obama may be most electable. Mitt was elected here in Massachusetts, which may be more "enlightened" and less prejudiced towards Mormons (I'd like to think so, but I really have no idea). Mitt ran and won against centrist, insider Democrat Shannon O'Brien, who people (and the media) just didn't like very much, which includes liberal Democrats. Remind you of anyone? :-)

Anyway, that's not why I'm commenting. I Googled for the lyrics to "What Sweeter Music" and you're the top result. I first encountered this work in a chorus for a Christmas program a few years ago. I'm Jewish, but performing this work with talented singers and a first-class orchestra was so moving I had trouble singing it sometimes because I'd choke up with emotion.

Rutter sure knows his stuff. I'm a sucker for ninths and suspensions, and he loves them. He can do the most surprising modulations in the space of one or two beats - modulations it would take most composers multiple measures to accomplish.

Anyway, thanks for the lyrics!

And tying it to the topic of your post, in the same program as the Rutter, we did "To The Manger, Come", with lyrics by Orrin Hatch. To my (totally non-Christian, but musical) ear, it wouldn't be out of place in any Evangelical setting, despite its Mormon author.
