Illegal Immigration - An Editorial That Gets It

In a must-read editorial, Doug MacEachern of the Arizona Republic nails down the two questions that truly must be answered if there is to be a real solution to the problem of illegal imigration:

1. How will your plans provide a result different from the last great "answer" to illegal immigration, the amnesty of 1986?

MacEachern notes that "John McCain, President Bush and Ted Kennedy have failed, so far, to provide an answer" to this question. I agree. In Bush's case perhaps the problem is, as the President recently acknowledged to Republican leaders, he has not done a good job of communicating his policy plans to the people. I again agree. A MacEachern excerpt:

Since 1986, an estimated 8 million foreign-born non-citizens who by law should not be in the United States live illegally in the United States. At the very least, whatever becomes the new law - if anything ever becomes law - must credibly address what the '86 amnesty obvious did not.

If immigration legislation does not help stem the human tide rushing across the ranches of Douglas in the dark of night, its sponsors really need to ask themselves why they are even bothering.
Yep.

2. How do you deal with the human-scale reality of the millions of people living in this country now?

MacEachern argues, correctly, I think, that this question is "one that Pat Buchanan, Mesa Rep. Russell Pearce and serious policy analysts like Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies have failed to answer." More from MacEachern:

People who play the snotty game of illegal-alien sanctimony - "what part of illegal don't you understand?" - apparently believe illegals exist in isolation in some fanciful land called "Mexican Holler."
It's a great piece. Read it all.

ADDENDUM: For a collection of my posts on the illegal immigration issue, go here. If you're a nativist you'll hate my posts. If you're a free immigrationist, you'll hate them too. If, however, you are a wise, thoughtful, fair-minded person, you'll agree with me. (Just kidding. Comment away!)

We as Americans get the rights to vote, to get the full protection of the law, to get the very generous things our goverment gives to the people who signed those immigration papers and had been given their American rights, Should the people who still think they get the priviledge to be American but be called Spanish or Mexican or Polish get the gifts we get as registered Americans? Of course not my parents came to this country LEGALY from their respected jobs and spent it all to come here and settle( from my grand parents and the Great Grandmothers on both sides tell me from storys they were told that we came in the early 1900's) Im trying to say that OUR familys put effort into becoming a respectable American but only in heart and accent not loyalty, if I didnt I would have too many countrys mixed into my home. So I propose a higher WALL not fence to cover the entire border and beef up security around them. We should also send all the illegal immagrants here and their children if they are unable to keep a home for themselves. Those illegal immagrants should also get a $1000 dollar fine at the least, no guest worker plan no spanish translations on boxes and signs, no welfare, no madicare or medical help, no pay, and immediate eviction notices, AND FINALY NO MORE SPANISH CHANNELS!!!!!! Oh by the way no translation of OUR BELOVED NATIONAL ANTHEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YEAH

I am really frustrated with the response to the
illegal immigration problem. Several hundred thousand
illegal immigrants and their supporters got a day off
work or school to march around blocking traffic and
waving Mexican flags in order to intimidate my elected
officials into giving them amnesty so that they can
apply for more government aid in addition to the free
healthcare and special programs in schools they
already get - and you and I are paying for! The media
compared them to the Civil Rights movement and most of
the politicians are running for cover.

Next Monday, May 15th, the House of Representatives
and the Senate will be debating a compromise bill on
immigration. I am going to let them know that I want
the laws of this country enforced and illegal
immigrants deported - NOT given a hearing date and
turned loose, NOT given a free pass by local police,
NOT given scholarships and in-state tuition breaks,
NOT given driver's licenses, and NOT given
citizenship!

I am going to send emails to my representative in
Congress, my senators, the White House and the major
news outlets. I encourage you to do the same and to
forward this to everyone you know and encourage them
to do the same. I am going to remind them all that I
may not march in the streets, but I do VOTE! If my
representatives in Washington don't have the guts to
stand up to criminals they don't deserve to represent
me and I'll vote to throw them out at the next
election.

Below are the email addresses, or links to web sites
where you can find email addresses or submit feedback,
for your representatives and the major media outlets.
Take a few minutes to send them something - even if it
just says "don't reward illegal immigrants for
breaking the laws". Stand up and be counted if you
think this is wrong. If the silent majority remains
silent nothing is going to change and the problem is
only going to get worse - billions of your dollars
worse.

Not only was the protest of the illegal immigrants bold and illegal as they are, I personally observed many instances of aggesssive behavior on the part of Latino males in the streets where I live. Its not rocket science people. The floods/invasion of peoples from Mexico and El Salvador and their immediate offspring continuum is mean't to establish dominance! My view. Dry up the employment. Get Americans working in construction (especially Black uneducated males with no where to go) and let these people apply legally for guest whatever and then do the countdown to who is deserving to apply for citizenship. First and foremost is secure ALL OF OUR BORDERS! This is not Mexico. Why should we absorb their populace and support a foreign country with non FEDERALLY taxed dollars that the Mexican illegals give to their countrymen? Sure its sad that people struggle but the law is the law! It was sure enough damn sad when my Grandfather and his kin before him were born into slavery and forced to work for nothing for hundreds of years! Why should these new illegal entrants be so well preferred and better than the uncountable Americans who paid with sweat, blood, family, livlihood and loss be so special? PEOPLE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN HERE THAT LONG, MOST LESS THAN 1 YEAR, 2 YEARS CERTAINLY LESS THAN 10 YEARS! Give me a break! Lets get American back to being honest and fair! America for Americans not Mexico!

Everybody says there is this RACE problem. Everybody says this RACE problem will be solved when the third world pours into EVERY white country and ONLY into white countries.

The Netherlands and Belgium are more crowded than Japan or Taiwan, but nobody says Japan or Taiwan will solve this RACE problem by bringing in millions of third worlders and quote assimilating unquote with them.

Everybody says the final solution to this RACE problem is for EVERY white country and ONLY white countries to "assimilate," i.e., intermarry, with all those non-whites.

What if I said there was this RACE problem and this RACE problem would be solved only if hundreds of millions of non-blacks were brought into EVERY black country and ONLY into black countries?

How long would it take anyone to realize I'm not talking about a RACE problem. I am talking about the final solution to the BLACK problem?

And how long would it take any sane black man to notice this and what kind of psycho black man wouldn't object to this?

But if I tell that obvious truth about the ongoing program of genocide against my race, the white race, Liberals and respectable conservatives agree that I am a naziwhowantstokillsixmillionjews.

They say they are anti-racist. What they are is anti-white.

Anti-racist is a code word for anti-white.

While comparing two different web sites, one by the us government about U.S. citizenship and Immigration services,(www.uscis.gov) and the other, Mother's agains Illegal Aliens, (www.mothersagainstillegalaliens.org), it was found that they are presented in two very different ways. The goverment site is very informative about how to become a legal citizen of the united states and the specific steps on what you need to do to obtain your green card. It is much intended for the people who want to come to the U.S, for that reason it is easy to understand and is basic and to the point. It is a great website and it shows that there is a legal way to enter the U.S. On the other website it clearly states that they arent against the immigrants the legal immigrants at all, but are very concerned about the illegal immigrants coming in and how it will be a problem in the future. This website is intended for the concerned public, and also for the government to be aware of what is going on. It is full of facts and graphs and even lectures, one in particular which is by Roy Beck titled Immigration Gumballs. It is very convincing and show a definite need in a change or the U.S. population will change dramatically and problems will occur. At what point is the government going to change, and if they do change will it be too late?
