Who Knew Department: Jefferson Airplane Wrote Songs About the Wife of Israel's Ambassador to the U.S., Michael Oren

Sally Oren is the wife of Michael Oren, Israel's superb ambassador to the United States.  It turns out that when Sally Oren, then Sally Edelstein, was a teenager growing up in San Francisco, she hung out at Bill Graham's Fillmore Auditorium, played frisbee with Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead and ate hot dogs in Golden Gate Park with Dead lead guitarist Jerry Garcia.  Jefferson Airplane even wrote two songs about her, one of which, Young Girl Sunday Blues, is on the After Bathing at Baxter's album (album cover above).  Jeffrey Goldberg tells the whole story in The Atlantic online.    Who knew?
