Fred Thompson: Pundit Quote of the Day

From John Fund:

One obvious shortcoming is that Mr. Thompson hasn't run for office since 1996. After he announces and enters the maelstrom of a national campaign, he will inevitably make mistakes, misspeak and demonstrate a lack of knowledge on issues the other candidates have had months to bone up on. How he handles adversity and crises on the campaign trail will be the true test of his mettle and adaptability.

Um, you're kidding, right ? Knowing the topics and running for office are very separate things. He has been preparing for this since he was asked to run back in 2000. Go read some of the topics he has been talking about here:

He knows the issues.

Hey, anonymous, it's not me, it's John Fund saying that. And if you've ever been involved with a campaign, or followed presidential politics much, you know that the glare of attention that the candidate faces is a lot different from the very controlled environment Thompson has been in over the last 11 years. I like Thompson and think he could be a good candidate. Whether or not he is remians to be seen, because he has not been a candidate.

By the way, why is it that every time I post anything here about Fred Thompson that even slightly raises a doubt about him, I see a comment posted within minutes? Just asking the question.
