9/11, bin Laden, and al Qaeda: Facts Are Stubborn Things
Victor Davis Hanson, as always, puts forward some hard truths and hard questions.
While American politicians tore into each other, Al Jazeera calmly released a video of Osama bin Laden from before 9/11. Given the timing of the tape'sRead about the video. I don't think you'll get this information from CNN.
release, you could call it bin Laden's alternative commemoration of the mass murder of 3,000 Americans. . . . There is a lot to relearn from the footage that we have apparently forgotten in these last five years.

Victor Davis Hanson is one of the best exponents of what is needed from America if we are to be successful in our response to the threat of Al-Qaida and its related web of fanatical Islamists.
Such a contrast to the muddy-headedness of Senators McCain, Warner and Graham yesterday! It's hard to see their chop-block of the President's efforts as anything other than political grandstanding. If they have real concerns in the area, would statesmen not work behind the scenes with the administration to bring forth a bill that they could support? Instead we have political grandstanding by some "Republicans" who just dealt the Republican President and his supporters a real blow and propped up the Democratic carping machine.
I suspect that McCain in particular is basking in the adulation of the big, mainstream media, failing to recognize that none of those editorial writers and pundits can carry a Republican caucus or primary. As McCain continues to undermine the President (can't he get over 2000?), he continues to drive spikes into the coffin of his 2008 presidential bid.
But more importantly, he and his buddies are undermining America's long-term security interests. They're supposedly worrying about diluting the Geneva Convention "protections" for our troops from people who don't follow the Geneva Convention? That's a pretty small fig leaf to cover such grandiose egotism.
