Did You See Or Hear Anything about This Poll? I Didn't Either . . . .
What is most interesting to me about the poll is that most of the 23 million people who watched the speech (an all-time low for a presidential TV speech) were Bush supporters. It seems that what the President accomplished was to reassure his base, which may have been eroding on the Iraq issue. That's not everything one would have hoped to accomplish, but I'll take that half of the loaf.

Hedgehog don't read so good, the link says CNN reported this. Hedgehog would think this was intentional if shoe was on the other foot, but I can't talk about it.

Chico, perhaps it is you who does not read too carefully. The linked post says, "Oddly enough, however, CNN did not report on the Gallup flash poll in its article on the speech."
Oops.

Dear Merle Jeeter:
(You know, the cleverness of you fellows in picking your comment monikers is just overwhelming. It is equalled only by your courage in remaining anonymous. Gosh, it's enough to make a blogger want to revise his site so people can't comment anonymously . . . . Come to think of it, that change is coming. Enjoy your current adorable cuteness while you can.)
Having said all that, it turns out that my source was wrong. As Ed Morrissey posted in an update to the post I link to above:
"UPDATE: CQ reader DG Bellak notes that CNN did report this, although it did not come up when I searched the CNN site. Good catch; my bad."
Ed and I are both wrong. My bad too.

Here, here. Anonymous internet commenting is now the number one problem facing this nation. It used to be third behind removing Saddam Hussein and opening up the wildlife refuge in Alaska for oil exploration, but with those two out of the way it is right at the top of the heap.

Dear Hedgehog,
There's no call for getting snarky.
It looks like John M. Haddow is pulling your leg above, or someone impersonating him. If that *is* really John M. Haddow, I congratulate him for loosening up a little with some self-referential humor. If it's not him, it's still funny. Just for the record, I don't think there's any way that's the real John M. Haddow.
Gee whiz, a chickenhawk with his own little flock of war-avoiding spawn lecturing about courage! Isn't that a little like Ike Turner lecturing about spousal abuse?
I wish you and the rest of the non-anonymous patriots well as you circle jerk for freedom on what promises to be a grand 4th of July.

Merle, you clever fellow, I guess I am reduced to noting that although CNN did cover its own poll, ABC, CBS, and NBC did not. The poll's not that significant anyway, merely kind of interesting.
I won't say more. For all I know you are a friend of mine or part of the MoveOn.org fringe contingent on the Ute board.
