AP reports that the number of U.S. troops and Iraqi civilians killed in Iraq in September fell to the lowest levels in over a year, 50% lower than the previous month. How will the Defeatist Democrats react? The most intelligent will welcome the news, but suggest that it is due to factors other than the success of the surge, or else spin that the lower death tolls do not make ultimate political stability any more attainable. The wingnuts will either cast doubt on the veracity of the statistics, or actually express regrets that the death toll has declined.
