And Another Question for Muslims about Islamofascism
In reponse to my post below , referring to the five questions Dennis Prager would like Muslims to answer, commenter DL asks another excellent question that has been screaming for an answer for many years now:
Another, to the point, question to ask of a supporter of a religion like theThere is no good answer to that question, but it's an important one to ask.
radiacal Islam that is presenting itself today is, "Why do you worship a God who
encourages and sanctifies murdering the most innocent of his creations in the
most terrifying way possible?"

What hypocrisy.
The God of Islam is the same as the Jewish God and indeed, the same God of the Christians. Let us not forget that the holy book of Christians (i.e., the Bible) is replete with God ordering death as a punishment for all sorts of things that would be considered ludicrous in the modern day:
"Exodus 22:20: He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.
Leviticus 24:16: And he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death.
Exodus 31:15: Whosoever doeth any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
Exodus 21:15: He that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.
Exodus 21:17: He that curseth his father or his mother, shall surely be put to death.
Exodus 22:20: He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.
As for "taking choices away from women" perhaps you need to look at a broader perpective. The vast majority of Muslims are moderate. The vast majority of Muslim women have exactly the same rights and freedoms as any "Christian" woman. Furthermore, it is hypocrisy to necessarily criticise Islam for the repression of women (which it does) when Christianity pretty much does the same thing.
The repression of women has always been more of a cultural phenonmenon from patriochial society rather than from the religion (with regards to the three desert religions anyway). Across the Western world, there are large differences in what are considered to be "Christian values". Why is this the case? People are not above subverting Christianity as a front to their own moral and social agenda.
The same is true in the Islamic world. You can claim that the Qu'ran supports just about anything with the right selective interpretation of a few paragraphs and people do just that.
As for the "5 questions", that is simply a cynical stunt. One could do the same against any religion: to ask the moderates in the religious to justify the thoughts and actions of the fundamentalists.
I am personally an atheist and perhaps as an outsider looking in, there isn't really much of a difference at the core between Chritianity and Islam. Both are capable of inspiring people to do great acts and there is at one side a foundation of peace and enlightenment. On the other side, both are steeped in dogma and a sense of moral rigteousness which leads to the justification of acts of terror (e.g., IRA = Catholic terrorism).
Regards.

How do you develop an official Christian support for blowing up children?
Overzealous conversion has been overdone in history, but not supported officially by dogma or Church teaching.
For example you can't judge the Church by what Judas
did even though he was a hand picked follower of Christ. The question to be answered by Islam is, does their basic religion teach that their god (not just a follower or a radical Mullah) sanctions the violent death of innocent non-believers?
